This was a hard week.
Work took a lot out of me, and there were definitely days when the last thing I felt like doing was coming home and working on something else. But I keep reminding myself why I started this challenge in the first place: I want to see what I can build with the time, skills and creativity I already have.
So for Episode 9 of my $70K Financial Challenge, I’m making a brand-new Athena Tote—a handmade carry-all created from repurposed clothing—and somehow, in the middle of a difficult week, I sold more than $370 worth of handbags.
This challenge started as an experiment to find ways to make extra money to put toward my $70,000 in student loans. But it’s slowly becoming something bigger: thrifting, sewing, creating one-of-a-kind pieces and figuring out whether a creative side hustle can actually make a meaningful difference financially.
